Re: Species Maintenance Report

Thanks Al,

You just hit me on one of my greatest peeves!

If this helps clarify my position, which I believe I have stated
several times in the past.

I DO NOT RELEASE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT WHO OWNS WHAT SPECIES TO ANYONE
- EVEN THE A.K.A. BOARD OF TRUSTEES. THIS IS WRITTEN IN STONE.

What I do attempt to do - If I find a species that is extremely
uncommon and if a breeder has only one sex or the other, I will contact
someone who may be capable of providing the other with the needed fish to
continue the species. I always respect the wishes of those I contact and
only give names to them if they approve. Otherwise I will have the fish
shipped to me and then tranship it to the breeder.

  RANT SOAPBOX ON :

Because Species Maintenance is so important and so necessary if we
want to ensure the continuance of each endangered species, the only way I
can do anything of value is if everyone participates. Folks, - it bothers
me greatly when some of the "Best and Brightest" also become the least
willing to participate. It says something about our society in general -
and that is: "Leave me alone - don't bother me." Sadly, in real life
people have died because of that attitude. In our case - I am sure species
of fish will disappear from the hobby if we don't work together. If that
happens - no one has the right to whine or complain when something does
disappear.
