The ventral fins in the males also develop long extensions which are at least
an inch longer than the female's ventral fins in mature fish. The male in my
tank next to this computer has ventral fins that reach back to the tip of the
anal fin. He is at least two years old. Younger males will not be as
extended, but still longer than a female's.
