While these are a great idea nodoubt a word of caution:
Some plastics leak oestrogen mimics into the water along with
other steroid like compounds. These have been linked with
infertility etc... If you start to see funny sex ratios or infertility after
a while change from the plastic containers to glass.
I still think it is a great idea and intend to employ similiar
containers for culturing daphnia etc... indoors under lights and
some aeration. Feeding: a little sugar and yeast as per the
instructions in ROTOW. What a marvelous little book it is. The
later chapters are now largely obsolete but the first few chapters
are priceless.
