Re: I can't get Java Fern to grow!
I know very little about plant compatibility. However
Diana Walstad's Ecology of the Planted Aquarium spends some time on the
phenomena of allelopathy, where some plants actually produce allelochemicals
which can inhibit or even eliminate competing plants. A very quick skim of her
tables doesn't show Microsorium. Would any of these instances where moved Java
ferns suddenly declined possibly be explained by this? Are there any denizens of
the aquarium plant mailing list out there who would have heard of such a thing
with Java moss?
