Yes, same species. The original description by Seegers placed it in a new
genus: Paranothobranchius. Wildekamp subsequently regarded
Paranothobranchius as a subgenus of Nothobranchius.

Yes. Nothobranchius ocellatus can be found in the same ephemeral habitats as
the following species (on which it feeds): N. melanospilus, N. janpapi, N.
annectens and N. eggersi. Its breeding habits are, in general, the same as
