RE: Must have Killie Books(now filamentosum)

Hi Lee,

I am doing the Ouidah strain and have a few pairs which have not yet been
spoken for yet if anyone is interested. They will be ready to go when the
weather warms up. They do spawn in bottom mops but their eggs are not very
sticky and I usually found many on the bottom of the tank under the mops.
Next time, I think I will put a dish under the mop.

The fellow who sold them to me claims that he only incubates them six weeks,
but all of his incubation times on other fish have been *substantially*
faster than mine(usually by at least half). So, I know he is doing something
different. I hatched mine from three to five months. I have gotten no belly
sliders and very good hatches. These are really beautiful fish and I
believe that they actually prefer flake food. These would make an excellent
starter *annual* killifish if anyone is still keeping a list.

Best regards,

-RJ-

I usually preferred to incubate them on peat and after 3 months at
ambient temperatures (70-72 degrees) they usually are ready to hatch. I had
always collected the eggs from peat or greensand, because they (an "aquarium
strain") would not lay eggs on mops. Now, I have the Ouidah strain, which
seems to prefer laying eggs in mops, so I have to make the choice. I think I
will partially water incubate them for a couple weeks and then put them on
peat to control the birthday.
