0.5 cents from a newbie

Bobby,
I have enjoyed the posts that you have written. This partly because I can
put a face to the name. I have been by your store many times and have
enjoyed talking killies with you. I therefore know that you love raising
fish and are willing to help anyone as much as you can. Without this
personal interaction that I have had I could take some of his commits the
wrong way. That is the problem I see with modern technology. Communication
is more than words. I have heard it said that it is 90% body language and
that is what is missing in this forum. I would agree that if we all were in
a room we would be to busy talking killies to mad at each other. Sure there
will always be personality clashes but once you get past that we all love
killies.

As a newbie these days will some day be the "good old days" for me. I will
always look back at the help that the people in TAKO have given me, their
eagerness to mentor me, and not to mention the free fish they have provided
me. At the advice that I have received from this list (most of which was
offline). I always look forward to the monthly meets to talk killies and to
see the fishroom of others. And I hope I will remember all of the advice
that Art Leuterman, Ralph Havis, and Marty Fischer have given me. I will
remember how excited I was when Don Nielson sent me a second species of fish
when I ordered a pair from him. All of this generosity has made me what to
return the favor to others that are new to killies. Could the AKA do more,
sure but it takes volunteer time which most of us have precious little of.
Maybe that is the difference from now and 20 years ago. People seemed to
worked 8-5 and left work at work. I don't think I have ever worked only 40
hours in a week.

And I will always remember the advice I got from Bobby one day at his store
(which is the best freshwater store in Houston!), "Stick to a small number
of species so that you can take the time to care for them properly and breed
them well."

p.s. Bobby, do you have the email addresses for the people in Brazil?
