RE: rare fish, breeders, and clubs
Hi All, Joe is right (I think it was Joe- 90 something messages in 2 days...jeez) These 2 programs should not be considered the same. They do both have there place though. I'm the BAP chair for Tropical Fish Society of RI. Our BAP is used to get species out there to hobbiests at reduced costs, and to provide tank bred animals, which hopefully would cut down on the difficulty of some species, and maybe elieviate (sp?) pressure on wild fish(most likely a pipedream, but I like to dream). We do have an incentive to raise a second generation (it's an extra 5 points above what that species usually gets). Almost everybody in my club shoots for second gen). You can view our BAP rules and regs, as well as all the spawns my members have had for at least a year (since I've been putting them on our website) http://www.petsforum.com/tfsri scroll down to Breeders Award. BTW, the points list was redone just before I took the position over, so if you have comments on how to change the killifish section, please tell me. MAybe I should bring up an idea to give 10 points extra for third generation. I wonder how many would try to take advantage of that. regards, Ron
