Re: Ouch! Brine Shrimp Eggs

Sorry to jump into this late.

All comments welcome.

In the past I have always purchased eggs from the "San Francisco Bay Brand"
company. The last "jar" I purchased was in late 1999. I hatch about a 1/4
to 1/2 teaspoon every day depending an the number of fry I have.

I remember at the time I purchased my last "jar" from SFBB the price was about
20% higher then an equal amount from Brine Shrimp Direct, but even close to a
year and a half later, I am seeing what looks like > 98% hatch rate. I see very
very few or often zero unhatched eggs and lots of shells at the top in a 36
hour period at about 74 degrees F.

When I see people talk about 70% or 80% hatch rates I am a little scared. What
are others opinions on this? Is SFBB that much superior to BSD? Have all eggs
just gone down in quality in the past year? Of is it good vs. bad hatching
conditions?

Peace
john
