species maintenance volunteers/conscriptees

Hello

Here are my feelings on species maintenace (SM):
1)Weneed to ascertain which species and populations must be
conserved. Naturally we can't keep'em all but there certain
strains which need more protection than others. This requires
    that...
2)...asertan which strains and species are presently being
maintained. As this is primarily an AKA initiative perhaps in the
next BNL a questionare should be sent out for this purpose.
This would give the relative commitees something to chew on
and help them draw up some frame work. To get an accurate
picture this would have to be done once a year or at least once
    every 5 years.
3)Asfare as possible people should be forc.... "enchouraged" to
maintain at least one Core or SM Candidate species.
4) I have the following species which I am already comitted to
    maintaing long term:
N. korthausae "Red x Yellow"
N. melanospilus "Mvumi TAN 00/11"
N. sp. Kilombero "Minepa TAN 00/14"
N. kafuensis "Kayuni ZAM 97/1"
N. orthonotus "Mkuzi Game Reserve KZN 00/1"
N. foerschi "Aquarium Strain"
A. striatum "Cap Esterias"
C. poliaki "Bolifamba"
Sim.sp. "South Bahia CI-99"

This is not to say I'm not interested in other fish but these are the
ones I want to keep going and have going now. I'm also interested
in adding some A. coeleste and halleri to the list if I can get the
eggs to survive the journey to S.Afr.

Well, these are just my thoughts.

Bye
