RE: info on red austreial
Red-orange australes can be both a tough or easy fish to breed. When I
lived in Albuquerque, NM, they produced eggs easily. Now that I live in
Virginia, they are much harder to coax eggs out of although they do produce.
In Virginia, my pH is 7.0 and general hardness around 80-100 parts per
million out of the tap. I breed them in a mop. The eggs incubate in water
for roughly 2 weeks and I think the fry are small when they hatch, so I feed
them paramecium for a week or two until I think they can take baby brine
shrimp. I do not treat the adults any more special than the luxury
treatment the rest of my fish get.
