Species Maintenance WHAT DOES EVERYBODY HAVE?
Hello Everybody,
I am not sure if anything like this is already in place or is "in the
works". But, is there a database, either that someone is taking care of or
on the AKA website where the members of the AKA can go in and list things
like:
1. Name and E-mail address etc.
2. What species and quantity of fish they currently have.
3. How long have they had the species of fish.
My idea is that we could have a database in the member's only area of
the AKA website where we could go in and add or delete species that we have.
I don't know how hard that would be to do but it would be pretty cool! And
if was in the member's only area you wouldn't have to worry about
non-members e-mailing and bugging you about fish. I would sort of "weed" out
the AKA hobbyists from the common Joe just browsing the net.
The other way would be to just have everybody send their species
information to one person or a group of people quarterly or BI-annually.
Like I said in the beginning, maybe this is what is being done already,
but if its not, I think it would be a good idea.
One other thing is that if it was to be done, to get everyone to
PARTICIPATE (so we would get a fairly accurate view of what's out there) we
would have to ADVERTISE so to speak. If it is already being done I don't
know anything about it (for example). A good thing to do would be to (Again
quarterly or BY-annually) get the word out to everyone possible. We could do
the following to get the word out at the appropriate times:
1. Put a BIG one page advertisement type thing that says it is time to
submit changes to your species maintenance.
2. Post a message to the killietalk group.
3. Put BIG reminder sign on the AKA homepage reminding all AKA members to
post their changes in the species that they are working with.
Sorry for the long winded message. This is just a thought that I have
had for a while and I thought I would share it with the world :-)
And YES I would be more than happy to help with this matter in any way
possible!
Hope to hear any comments!
