My distaste for TLAs began when I first read Scheel's Rivulins of the Old
World. I found it difficult to follow by constantly having to look up the
TLAs. I was new to killies then, and also thought it rather unprofessional
to use TLAs rather than the scientific name. I still feel that way, even
though I have occasionally used the TLAs of some of the more common species,
like SJO. How many of us know what an ANS, BAU or a CAR is without looking
it up? I know some of us do, but not me. Please let us not get into
dreaming up more TLAs. I would rather see abbreviations of scientific names
used, following the accepted practices for abbreviating.

There, I said it and I'm glad. Back to lurking now.
