Re: TLAs

Hello,
I like Latin names for one reason - this is an international hobby.
Where I live, English is as tough to pronounce as Latin for most people.
Having the international standard that's nobody's personal language just
makes it easier to communicate, even within the AKA if you take a good
look at the Roster.
I don't think we have to fall into snobbism about using latin - if we
understand each other in a region, why not use a local name when we talk
about fish? I really enjoyed Mike Jacob's posting, about needing to be
able to keep the fish first.
But I think we should use Latin names on a list like this - we may look
like we have a snobby little killi-nerd secret language, but the
scientific names of our fish are the language we need to be sure we're
all on the same page. As for these abbreviations, I'll make the extra
effort and type a few more letters before I'll use them. There are too
many species for them to be useful, IMHO. Ooops. In my humble opinion
;-)
