RE: list behind the times.

It's not that the list can't handle HTML messages. It is a
fact that many mail programs can't handle it. HTML and RTF
is bloated and uses excessive bandwidth. Using straight
ascii text allows everyone to read it. Text is the lowest
common denominator when it comes to a mailing list. I run
the Killie Trader (now 600 members) which is web based and I
have run other lists under several different software
programs (majordomo and listserve). Text is the best in my
opinion, clean, simple, 99.99 percent compatible with mail
programs. Also, receiving HTML messages leaves you very
vulnerable to a host of viruses, trojans and most anything
that can run a VBS script (beware Outlook users). A text
only mail list cannot do this to you. Especially, as this
list is now setup to reject attachments.

Hello all,
I would submit the idea that there is an alternate list that
you all can run. I run a cichlid list on egroups (was
one-list) and it is so easy that a 4 year old could do it.
You have 3 different options (digest, individual, and read on
the web only mail) selections, and it is HTML compatible.
Richard you and the others can pick and choose you
moderators and it is easy to remote access also. It is just
an idea, as I know it is hard to change and easier just to
have people set their email editors to text only. Just an
idea ya'll.
