RE: Heaters

I think you'll find most LFS are more concerned with sales that keeping your
fish alive. I have never had any LFS refer me to another LFS for something
they didn't have in stock, with the exception of crickets(they don't like to
count out 200 crickets). I have always been referred to another "better"
product they had in stock or told they would have it next week. I have also
found most of the LFS employees don't have a clue about fish, but are always
more than willing to give advise. I am luck enough to live close to a fair
LFS(Gaithersburg) and within reasonable distance to The Aquarium Center
outside Baltimore, Md( worth the drive for good fish). I look at most
places, PETCO for example, as a showroom for That Pet Place. I save more
than enough to cover the shipping and usually have the products in two days.

I recently purchased a small(2oz) container of flake food at PETCO for the
same price as an 8oz container of the same food with shipping from That Pet
Place.

Just an FYI, over the years I have known several owners of LFS. They all
had the same philosophy, sell fish and tanks close to cost or at a loss,
make money on everything else.
