RE: RE: Silicon sealant and aquaria

Just a quick note:

Although silicon sealant usually says it cures after 48 hours,
I have found that it doesn't truly harden for at least 7 days.
I know one manufacturer of large aquaria won't let a tank leave
their site for a week after sealing. I've experimented (ever
seen the silicon split on a 90 gal in front of your eyes?)and
now leave all of my tanks for at least 2 weeks before filling
them.

Of course, I've been using toxic aquarium sealant :-)

I have made all of my breeding tanks as well as repaired and
rebuilt
most of my tanks. I have used GE 012 with no loss of any fish.
I have
used tanks that have cured for only 48 hours as well.
