Earthworms
Hi All,
When I lived in NJ (now NM), I found a great way to
cultivate/collect very small earthworms. Take an old (hemp?)
doormat/welcome mat and place it in a shaded garden area where
it will get frequent watering (natural is best). I placed mine on
the north side of the house under some large evergreen shrubs
(hews) which happened to be in the front of the house. If not
disturbed for awhile, when one turns it over; the underside will
be full of juvenile earthworms. Great for even some of the
smallest killies, etc. I just gave them a gentle rinse, then on
to those hungry killies.
Of course this works best in the warmer months and in less dry
climates than here in NM which demands frequent watering..
