RE: Mexico
George:
It is not unusual for things to disappear on their way south. There are
many immigrants in the U.S. who send cash through the mail to their
families. There has come to be a real cottage industry in the pilfering of
mail that looks like it may contain cash. Therefor the immigrants have made
some major efforts to disguise their shipments. This makes packages of an
unusual nature more highly saught after by the thieves. A small unlabled
box, or an unusually fat envelope is very tempting indeed.
My wife is from C.A. when she adds a few photos to a birthday card she
greatly reduces its likelyhood of getting there.
I don't mean to impune the Mexican Postal System, or that of any other C.A.
country. Most of their personnel are probably just as honest and dedicated
as ours. Possibly even more so when you take into account the amount of
cash they handle. I am unfamiliar with the Mexican customs regulations, or
practices but I just wanted to raise the possibility that somwhere in Mexico
there may be a very confused mail thief wondering what kind of a crazy
Gringo would actually mail someone else dirt.
Best regards,
-RJ-

I sent a bag of Nematolebias Whitei eggs to Mexico a few months ago and the
last I heard from the recipient, he never got them. Has anyone else had
problems sending stuff to Mexico? I wonder if their customs people
confiscated them.
