Very occasionally.  Mostly people eat them as juveniles (the
NZ whitebait industry is based on a few of the smaller galaxias
species such as G. maculatus or, to use the Maori name, Inanga).

My son-in-law in Melbourne had some in an aquarium with some Pseudomugil 
mellis a few years ago. He has none there now. I forget which species. 
Possibly Galaxias olidus or maculatus. Isn't one of them an annual of sorts? 
Are they also found in New Zealand?
