RE: Notho-Fade

Hi Nonn,

You can get Clout at any pet shop which carries Aquari-Sol it is made by the
same company. It is in pill form. I used it years ago to get rid of hook
worms. It did not work! Life Bearer was much better, It is made by the same
manufacturer and it did not shock my fish like clout did. I do not know if
Clout will work on Heximite but I think of it as a last resort. Before
administering this medication we should both wait to hear from Charles
Harrison for exact dosing as well as any counterindications regarding
specific killifish. My experience indicates that this is a tool best used by
the experienced or the desperate. This medication turns the water blue
which may indicate the presence of copper sulfate or other copper
derivative. If so, this is lethal to inverts and not real good for fish.
You might want to read the label carefully if you have snails in your tank.

Best regards,

RJ

Hello group this is Charles Harrison and . . . .
These symptoms match exactly those for Hexamita infections. The gut becomes
inflamed over a period of months and the specimen will take food but the
irritation is so sever that swallowing is not possible, and they spit it
out. Sometimes if a white worm or Grindle worm starts down head first the
fish has no option and the worm gets digested. Not likely though.
This wasting disease can be confirmed by microscopic examination of the
throat and gut of the suspected fish. There is a cure if you can get it in
time. It is best to treat the fry and neighboring fish tanks before they
show the symptoms with Clout or other antinemic parasite drug. The same
parasite responsible for Discus hole in the head disease is at work here.
The worst part about the cure is that there is nothing that can be absorbed
through the gills or skin to kill the protozoa parasite. You have to get it
down the throat and into the gut. I have done it with an eyedropper.

	IT IS CONTAGIOUS

Fish get it from picking at the feces on the bottom while searching for
food. It takes several weeks to months to develop into a visible problem.
Not all species are susceptible.
