Egg antifungal/antibacterial chemicals etc

I think it is great that there are some chemicals, elusive though the
specific mix may be, that can help save eggs. I have tried some
concoctions, and the best for me (no scientific data mind you) is tank water
from the parent tank, placing a sprig of java moss in the egg box to prevent
egg to egg contact. Gee, isn't that what the fish were trying to do with
their eggs before you picked them and put them together in a desired sterile
environment?
I can't say it works for some of the real touchy killies I might not have
yet encountered, but seems good as any for the ones I have raised so far.
At least it provides a bit of shelter and food, as well as an ecological
water conditioner when they hatch out.
