ogoense sex ratios
Hi,
I've done some involved home experiments with sex ratios, and have come
to the conclusion I don't have a conclusion. With some species, tricks
with water hardness, pH and maybe temperature can be figured out, but
they don't seem to apply in any blanket way to other species, even
within Aphyosemion.
My technique is simple. I try to get fish to other AKAers, on the
principle that if I get into trouble on ratios, wipeouts, etc, they'll
try to get fish to me. Bill Shenefelt saved me on ogoense 80/24 when all
my fry were males, and Pierre Pelletier has helped me on other species.
I suspect a lot of people on the list help each other out like that.
I look forward to hearing responses on the original question on Komono
yellow ogoense, but if no one has a breeding/incubating/rearing trick
that works, we can always work at falling back on our resources as a
club.
