Re: recommendations for moving up from dinky air pumps ?
Call C&H Sales Co. (800-325-9465 and request a catalog. They sell used
industrial equipment, I have a big fish room (100 tanks) that I have piped
with 2" PVC throughout as an air distribution system. You can buy screw-in
air valves through one of the hobby classified ads. Back to C&H. I always
purchase used 60 cycle centrifugal blowers, seeking those that provide a good
head (pumping depth). I just ordered a replacement that pumps about 55 cubic
feet per second at no head but is capable of pushing water down about 12
inches. It costs about $65 and should last two to three years. One of these
blowers will operate any size fish room with air to spare that needs to be
bled off at the end of your piping. This is a lot cheaper and more effective
than a dozen air pumps.
