Snails in Planted Tank

Along the lines of snails, I've got a snail infestation in a 55g planted 
tank. I think they're pond snails. Has anyone had any experience with the 
Snail-a-cide products? I saw somewhere that it is safe for fish and 
plants, but I find it hard to believe. The tank has some N. Guentheri and 
A. Bit.
