I rarely used salt when I had my "liquid rock" before I moved. My water is
now half as hard and I have to use salt to prevent fungus and the fish do
seem to do better with a little salt in the water. Before someone says "How
much?" I salt my killie (and betta) tanks like I cook - I just throw a little
in.I'm sure someone will give you a scientific explanation. I read alot but
mostly I'm a "seat of the pants" fishkeeper. I do what works for me, being
aware it might not work for you. There are lots of variables in fishkeeping!
Glad to have new killiekeepers - the more the merrier!
