Easier? You gotta be kidding. :-) I can't say either one and hope I never,
ever have to auction off a pair!

The spelling of African names varies from one European language to the other
(and from Atlas to Atlas within each), and locations on killies are done
mostly by the original collectors. The usage in the taxonomic literature
should be the one we follow, not the modern (corrected?) political one.

I was going entirely by my faulty memory, so I just reviewed my
correspondence with Ken Lazara on this subject, and checked page 286 of
Huber's Killy Notes 2000. They both confirm the correct location spelling in
the literature as "Akamkpa."

[My apologies for referring folks to Ken's species list at the Az. Killies
site, for it does not seem to include locations. That list was involved in
the original discussion because it was where Ken listed the fish as a
subspecies of *gardneri*, *Fp. gardneri nigerianus*. I had questioned him on
that as Huber lists it as a separate species.]

As much as Ron has found a corrected, modern spelling for the location, I
think we should follow Huber and Lazara on this and use the 'Akamkpa"
spelling as the location identifier on this particular *Fundulopanchax
gardneri nigerianus* collection. No?

Why am I doing this instead of those delayed water changes? At least it's a
fun hobby sometimes. ;-)
