BTW, It was what I would do *if* my tanks were in a basement. I just use a
simple, direct siphon to the garden, as my tanks are all above grade. I do
use the pump for refill, tho. The siphon line has to have a piece of panty
hose across the inlet to keep babies in the house.
On losing messages:
Netscape messenger does it automatically, and I have to empty my "trash"
every month or so, but I notice that many mail editors dump messages
irretrievably, unless you go in and reset the preferences to save the mail
on your computer's hard drive. It is never a good idea to save them on the
server, which AOL used to offer as an option.
I find it *most* useful to be able to use the search engine to whip through
the last 3 or 4 months of messages to get a vital e-mail addy or re-read an
old one before posting the same thing again. As my (wetware) memory gets
worse, I find the hardware does a neat job of keeping me from total
confusion. ;-)
