Well heres my story I got my fish today Fundulopanchax sjoestedti thinking
they were a mop spawner and now I find out they aren't!!!!! So I am really
bummed right now, im not ready for bottom spawners so I can't do them. : (
so if there is anyone out there that would be so kind as to trade me for my
pair of Fundulopanchax sjoestedti for a good mop spawning fish I would be

Don't get rid of them yet. I've bred them as mop spawners two different
ways. In both situations I put the pair in a 5-10 gal tank with lots of
bottom mops all over the tank.
1. Pull eggs from the mop every few days. Get a bunch of plastic ice cube
trays and fill each compartment with straight tap water at room temperature
(do NOT dechlorinate). Put one egg in each compartment. Once they hatch,
you can raise them together as long as there is enough cover. Eventually, I
wound up separating the males into separate containers to keep them from
fighting.
2. Set up a container with damp (but not wet) peat moss forming a layer on
the bottom. No water. Pull eggs every few days for a couple weeks and place
each egg on the peat. After the two weeks, add some more barely damp peat
moss, bag the eggs, and wait three months. Drop the peat into a container of
water and hatching should begin in a few hours or less. This has worked for
me with my dwarf red gularis during the past few months. I bought a rather
old pair and the male has since died, but I have a great young pair coming
up, as well as another dozen fry to use in establishing a breeding group.
Best wishes;
