Funny things happening with my incubating A. australe eggs

After an initial successful harvest of eggs from a couple of pairs of Aphy.
australe orange, some really odd things have been happening during the
incubation. I'd welcome any comments from those on the list-

1) some of the eggs have eyed-up nicely, then a "partial" hatch seems to
happen,
i.e. tails appear poking through the "shell" with the rest of the
embryo/fry still
     inside.

2) some of the eggs begin to show some embryonic growth, then the egg swells
to
too 2-3x the size of the other eggs.

3) all the eggs made it 3-plus days, then some began to fungus. I'd been
under the
impression that if they're going to fungus, they usually do so within
the first 1-2
     days.

Needless to say, what I thought was going to be a 10-15 fry harvest, if I'm
lucky I'll get 3-5 instead (one fry is hatched and free swimming).

Any and all thoughts are welcome!!!!!
