3 Letter codes and other useless info.
I wanted to fan the flames a little and add this tidbit of
information to this thread.
I personally don't use the 3 letter codes. Mainly because
there is no way for me to find out what Scheel happened to
use years ago. I don't own the book and would rather spend
my money elsewhere like the new KMI (when it finally shows
up) or Hubers Killi Data . That way I can learn how to spell
the names etc....
I also wanted to say that the 3 letter codes used on
Killi.net have been made up as they were entered on the
site. I know this to be a fact because I entered the
Epiplatys in the database for Richard. If I found a code
already used then I used one of my choice.
I DO recognize certain ones that are widely used such as SJO
etc.
But as was recently discussed I had no idea what the MEP
stood for.
BUT I admit I did not try to look it up. But if it was
called a Nothobranchius melanospilus I would have been able
to find it. In fact I have kept Nothobranchius melanospilus
and didn't even know that Scheel had used MEP to represent
it.
Thanks for reading my message. Let the flames continue. II
can take it. I have been flamed before by some of the best.

Who are these kiiliekeepers? Is this a new inner sanctum of
people in
the know, or can anyone join? Is it the kiiliekeepers who
know how to
spell, and the killiekeepers who don't, or vice versa? I
think we should
be told!
LOL,
Guy.
