Yes and no.  Wines with a short shelf life can get by with a screw top.  Traditional bottles will have either a full cork, or composite cork as was mentioned as a cost savings.  Expensive fine wine, like the type Wright drinks <s>, will likely always have a solid cork.  Most of the inexpensive or moderately priced wines will have or soon have the composite corks.

I believe homebrew and wine fermenting shops will still offer solid corks.  But then they aren't free either. ;-)
