BOUNCE killietalk at aka_org: Non-member submission from ["Tom ROCHE" <TROCHE at itt_state.ga.us>]

Sherry,

The Barry White might help, but I hope you don't
use the Biscuit's automatic flusher around the fish.
Might make them nervous.

I would take the catfish out of the tank first. Then,
I would start feeding some frozen brine shrimp and/or
bloodworms and any live food you have access to.

The fish may not be mature yet. That, I think is the
likely cause. Give them time. Sometimes a tank can
be too big, and the fish don't find each other often
enough. You could experiment by moving the pair
to a two gallon drum bowl (fish bowl) for a week to
see if that makes a difference.

Overall I think that if you take good care of them and give
them good food, the eggs will soon be there. Then you
may have so many that you won't know where to put the fry!

Hi again,

I've had my pair of AUS for at least a month now, and still no eggs! A
couple people have given me advice off list (thanks!) but no luck. Here are
the details:

tank:
6 gallon eclipse
lots of plants (tons of water sprite, java moss, etc)
Peat in filter

water:
temp: 72 degrees
pH: 6.8-7.0
GH: 140 ppm
water change: 1/4 of tank weekly

Food:
dried bloodworms
frozen adult or baby bs
live bbs a couple times a week
a sprinkle of spirlina flake added to the the above

2 small cory cats are in there with them.

I've tried moving the male out for a couple days and them putting them both
in a small conatiner filled up with java moss for 24 hours.

I don't think any egg eating is going on by the cats or killies because the
pair don't even exhibit breeding behaviours. They ignore each other.

It looks to me like everything is just as it should be and I should be up to
my ears with eggs by now. Am I being impatient? Do I need to be playing some
Barry White or something?

Thanks,

Sherry
