RE: A. bitaeniatum breeding

Your "box full of java moss" is how I did BIT Benin City, except in a 20
high. The tank was 3/4 full of java moss, with a small Penguin 110 Biowheel
(barely a trickle). Fed heavily with baby brine and flakes, had quite a few
babies (I would have had more if I had pulled the parents).. Instead, I had
a nice, stable population of about 10 fish in that 20, of various ages.

Now, I do it a bit different with BIT "Ijebu Ode" Commercial Import (would
this be CI00?). 2.5 gallon "kritter keeper" plastic tank, weekly 70% water
change. Two floating mops. Feed baby brine. No filter or aeration. When
I feel like it, I can usually pull about 30 eggs/week from the mops, but I
have something like 60-80 fry growing up right now. I hatch the eggs in a
small Rubbermaid sandwich box, feed the fry baby brine (san francisco
strain.. they seem to be able to find the right size to eat), and change the
water ever other day. Works great.
