There are some South American annuals that require low hardness/TDS and the 
TDS measurement is the most convenient way to monitor the water quality for 
those fish. Particularly Simpsonichthys costai and Maratecoara lacortei and 
also some of the Fundulopanchax (now Callopanchax) species like toddi and 
occidentalis.
