But it may be an official AKA project, like JAKA, where all of the product costs are born by the AKA with aKen getting a cut of the sales for his authorship.

If so, then the AKA BOT is not accountable for the publishing schedule, although they could urge Ken to hurry up. If it's the second scenario, then AKA members have a beter case to gripe. But in either case, it's being produced by a hobbyist, not a professional author. And I'm sure it's a labor of love instead of an income generating project. So we can't beat them up too badly. ;-)
Ken's academic credentials are just fine in this area. He's a pro, which is
why we are lucky to have him doing it for AKA.
He *is* doing it as a hobbyist, and does have a life, too. He has generously
given us all a peek by letting the Arizona club put much of it up on their
site, while he tries to pin down a few loose ends. He's a meticulous
researcher, and the proliferation of splitters among taxonomists has made
the task many times greater, this time around. Comparing with the 80s
version, this one is an order of magnitude larger task.
My understanding is that this *is* an official AKA project, but that the
schedule has slipped for a variety of good reasons. Getting it accurate
surely can't be done overnight. My inclination is to sit tight until it is
done.
I'm more concerned that with Roger Langton's health and the inability of the
BOT to decide on a format, we are not even within view of seeing
"collections" updated anytime soon. How many fish do you have with
collection codes of '94 or newer? This is an "official" AKA project only
slightly less important than KMI, and I worry if we have the resources to
get it done at all.

"Bipartisan" means some larger-than-usual
government deception is taking place.
