Subject: mp3 greetings

Folks,

A few days ago I posted a warning about messages coming through as
MP3 greeting cards. That was based on gut feeling. Since then a few
more such messages have come through. I am certain that some of the
folks from whom the messages are supposed to have come would not have
sent them, and that has been confirmed in at least one case. In my
opinion this is behaving very much like a work, attaching itself to
someone's email (usually Outlook Express) address book and sending
out messages without their knowledge. You should be aware that a URL
in such a message could contain a script installing a worm on your
computer. I have looked at Symantec's site and can't find direct
reference to this possible worm, but I am still concerned. My advice
is not to open such links. I will try to find out more, but in the
meantime, resist the temptation. Be aware that the people ostensibly
sending the message in fact are not! That should tell you something.
