Re: TDS meter

I use Rubbermaid 300 gallon containers that can be bought at most feed and
grain dealers. These are great water collectors and if your fish are located
in the basement a hole can be drilled through the foundation and a line run
into a large container like a discarded chest freezer. you can get a float
valve and attach this to the line in the freezer chest and every time it
rains the chest fills up. I have a Tetra sponge pond filter running in the
freezer chest with a five gallon paint straining bag filled with peat to
sweeten or age the rainwater for the fish. When there are daphnia in the
outside collector they are soon spread around the fish room with water
changes. I collect about a half cup of daphnia a week from the outside tub
without adding any food for them. If I want mossies I just add some floating
plants to it so the female mossies can lay their eggs (rafts). In the past
few weeks I have been getting a lot of glass worms and blood worms from the
outside collector.
