cures for popeye?

Well, my tank of female nothos has another ailing fish, this one with
popeye.  I'm beginning to think that the belly slider wasn't a
developmental problem but a bacterial infection.

Any suggestions besides euthansia for this fish?  I've increased the salt
concentration to 3tsp/gal to relieve the pressure, but with zero effect (or
at least it hasn't stopped the progress.)

By the way, I no longer have female nothos to trade  :-(
