Re: whats the average kept -- in the past
As secretary of the AKA i sent an annual q uestionnaire in 1993 to the
membership (snail mail in those days). Only 58 responded!, but here are the
results re: # of species being maintained:
0 - 5 26%
6 - 10 34%
11 - 15 12%
16 - 20 12%
Several members maintained huge # of species; 42, 65
and 88!
I also asked how many species were maintained more than 3 years and found
that 60% of responders had maintained from 1 - 5 species more than 3 years.
The number of species is not really that important. Successful breeding and
disseminating of species of killies should be our goal. Good killie keeping.
