It is my understanding that the first zip code number is what region of the country you are in. The second digit is the area within the region (basically the state). And the third digit is the area within the state. The last two digits tell you which post office you have. I think the critical numbers would be the second and third digits because these would tell you who was within 100 miles. The last two digits would tell you who was in your town.
Actually, to keep it simple, why not just include the whole zip. That way people would not get confused.
I am glad you suggested this. I had been thinking about it for quite a while, but never brought it up.
Therefore, dear AKA roster people, Would it be possible to include the members zip code behind his/her name on the state list in the roster??

If a partial zip code is all we can get instead of the city name wouldn't the
last three numbers work better? I believe the first two tell the state which
we already have.

Now this brings another little peeve that I am sure a number of others
have
about the roster. Why not in the list by state of the members also show the
city of residence?
