Persistence. Brian's database on the AKA site is an increadible tool. Anybody buying nothos should reference it before they purchase the fish or eggs. If the fish/location you want are not listed in the database, then you have a little more homework to do. You'll have to try to trace the lineage of the strain if possible. That's where the Species Maintenance database would come in handy.
Let's say you were able to find out who the seller bought the fish from and that breeder sent an accurate listing to Tom. You could then piece back together the proper name/location. Of course, all of this presumes that breeders are updating the species maintenance commitee and that they're keeping decent logs or notes, including a listing of folks they've sold fish to.
