Re: CKA next week

Hi George!

I hope the posting to the list answered your questions. It was so
appropriate, I felt it should be answered on list. If I didn't answer
everything, please feel free to fire them back at me on or off list. We will
be terrifically busy this weekend with a 90th birthday partyfor my Dad. I'll
be in and out next week - speaking in Peoria at a fish club Wednesday, doing
some real estate stuff Monday and a curriculum workshop on Tuesday. Thursday
I will return home and we'll see if there are any last minute things which
still need to be done for the killie meeting.

There are several other new AKAers in the area. I hope to have them
contacted early next week, but want to bring the meeting to their attention
any way we can.

Another guest will be a mammel keeper from Brookfield Zoo. Their new African
Forest Exhibit is supposed to include a killie pond - gold australe for
visibility. We've done some corresponding on that pool and they responded
willingly to the meeting invitation.

Jim Gasior (well actually his wife) sent me the pamphlet he produced to go
with his presentation for the national convention. We will hopefully have
his handout as well as the presentation for the meeting. I'll also be urging
members especially to bring some of their killies for the auction.

You might want to take some water from established tanks and set up a couple
of empties before the meeting. Prior to our first CKA meeting we set aside a
tank. We cleaned up a large bowl, extra, "just in case." Naturally, while
bottom bidding on some of the killies especially attractive to newbies, we
ended up with three gorgeous species and then had to figure out where to put
them. At least we had been impressed with the necessity of keeping them
separate. Two of those strains were with us for a decade, so things worked
out!

See you next week!

Scott
