FW: Trip to Central African Republic
To someone with the
answers,
My wife and I are leaving for the Central African Republic in 2 weeks and I'm
interested in returning with some aquarium fish. I grew up over there and
had an aquarium with some 4 or 5 different varieties of killifish - now that I'm
attending school in CA I sort of miss it. My hope is to bring back a some
fish and, as I've no experience in the area of importing or traveling with the
things I need all the help I can get. I've a basic idea of how to
physically transport them (one question is why no one uses a coleman cooler -
why styrofoam?) and the concept of passing through US customs is fairly
straight forward - but what about getting the fish out of C.A.R??? I don't
want to end up in an African prison - and, as I am familiar with the workings of
African immigration officials - I would like to have whatever forms, permits,
documents and what-have-you so that I can somehow get out of there with my
fish. Once again, any info on obstacles I could face would be very welcome
- but especially; how do I find out about permits for CAR?
Thanks a
lot,
Josh

p.s. Like I said
before, I had several varieties of killifish but no idea of their common names
(I called 'em all "guppies") and now that I'm looking to import some, I will
need not only common but scientific names for the Declaration
forms. Any advice you can give here would be appreciated as
well. Thanks
