Doesn't Fontinalis have roots or at least rhiziods? I seem to remember
seeing such a representation in one of the plant books. (Strodula p 325-6
comes immediately to mind.) This stuff doesn't seem to have any rootlets.
I'll check it out when milking the cows tomorrow morning.
By the way, I have seen Java moss sold in auctions as Fontinalis. We did
what we could to issue a demurer and alternate name at that particular GWAS
auction. (The seller was a non-member, much to our relief.) Caveat Emptor!
