Yard Moss from a water trough --
Scott Davis is puzzled about an aquatic moss:
Java Moss is Vesicularia dubyana and is a tropical plant from Indonesia and
Malayasis. No doubt will not do well in winters around Chicago.
Water Moss or Fontinalis antipyretica is native to North America and Europe.
It is usually found in cold flowing water and is common in brooks, ditches
and lakes. It does not do well in heated aquaria.
You are probably referring to the Water Moss, Scott as it should tolerate
your winter weather outdoors, whereas the Java Moss will not.
