Hi Tim,

What moss from the lawn is this that lives in the killie water and sweetens
it?

I have thrown a funky tank of Java Moss and less desirables under the shade
of a hedge in a wet April only to see it thriving in May, but that is rather
unique for the midwestern US, maybe unless one is on very forested land. I
wouldn't be surprised to hear that it lives emersed in the South East Asian
rainforests - much as it grows out of the water in killie tanks and spreads
around terrariums.

John Metzger of Princeton, IL has been passing around his "ditch moss" or
"cow watering trough moss" which he harvests from the stock tank where his
daphnia grows. It is different from the Java moss and survives our winters.

I would wonder if both of these would actually draw oxygen feom the water in
egg containers since they're in the dark. Wouldn't there be a danger from
your moss also doing that?

All the best!

Scott
