The frog bit we have around here is a nice floater the size of duckweed.  The common salvinia that I have had for years( Salvinnia natans??) is a little bigger than duckweed.  This Salvinnia Longifolio is huge-bigger than your thumb and forms mats that would cover a 10 gallon tank easily.  A mat of 10 leaves is bigger than your fist.

I am confident that it is tropical and will not overwinter in IL.
