Fellow ChiKA member Norm R. uses a oak leaf tea to incubate his eggs with great sucess.  He places a bunch of oak leaves in a jar and allows the tannins and whatever to leach out into the water.  He uses it when it's the color of a dark tea.  The dark color likely cuts down on light and the tannins in the water reduce fungusing much as peat does for storing annual eggs.
