IMHO, there are no killies that will *never* take dry food. The trick is
local tank conditions and environment for some, but most are pigs that grab
anything that tastes good.
I've had lots of killies refuse the flake stuff from the LFS. None refuse
good-quality brine-shrimp flake. I doubt if any refuse freeze-dried blood
worms (midge larvae).
First-time use is certainly enhanced by letting them get good and hungry. A
feeding frenzy can do wonders. Dithers like guppies or other small fish can
lead the way.
Yes, you can certainly find *some* hobbyists with *some* problem fish,
anywhere you go. My opinion is that all of the killies that I have kept
(60-70 species, by now) will all take dry food when properly presented.
That said, I still rely about 80% on live foods. :-)
